If I am using a quote from my source that includes a footnote number/parenthetical citation/figure reference, do I have to put that within my quotation?

Answer

You should not include anything that the MLA Handbook labels as an "editorial apparatus" - this includes numbers or symbols for footnotes, parenthetical citations, references to figures, and cross-references. The handbook also states to not transfer over any font formatting or design features besides italics, unless they are relevant to the analysis that you're conducting(MLA Handbook 279).
