Summit Borrowing

Answer

What is Summit?

Summit is the borrowing and lending system certain academic libraries around the Pacific Northwest use to make it easier to borrow and lend books for students.

Summit libraries utilize a shared catalog and a courier system to allow students from one Summit library to borrow books and resources from another Summit library.

Students from a Summit institution typically can go to other Summit institutions' libraries to be able to borrow books in person. You will have to fill out a borrowing form in order to get a book from a Summit library.

How do I use Summit?

Search for a book on the Linfield Libraries website.

If we don't own it or it's unavailable from our library, but a Summit library has it, the book will show up on the search.

When you click on the book, you will have an option to fill out a request form, and the record that you clicked on will show you which Summit libraries have it.

This process is shown in the attached screenshots.

The library that owns the book will send it to our library via a courier system, and we will place it on the hold shelf.

You will be notified when the book is ready for pickup.

What are the policies for a Summit library book?

Most items: 6 week checkout period, no renewals
Videos: 6 day checkout period
Late fee: $0.50 per day.
Replacement cost: $75 + $20 overdue fine
